URCHINS

Urchins are the latest in a long line of DJ / Producers to come out of the Lincoln Club Scene that saw the Times dub it “an improbable rave metropolis”.
Urchins have spent the last couple of years playing separately at the biggest and best nights that the city has to offer; from the unstoppable neon force that is Moda to the pounding D&B at Cutz, also taking in the delights of the distinctly French vibes served up by Nouveaux and the minimal techno wizardry of Audiojak – one thing you can’t do with Urchins is pigeon-hole them.

It was playing at these nights that allowed them to see and support some of the biggest producers and DJ’s from across both the musical spectrum and the globe that drove their desire to dip into the world of production – soon realising that playing together gained huge success and bought a new energy to both of their mixing – the stage was set; Urchins were off the street and in the studio!

Their first foray; ‘Me So Horny’ garnered big props from the distinctly small crowd that have heard it so far – but the most important observer was James Amato – head honcho at POTTY MOUTH MUSIC. James saw the raw talent and flawless production on offer from Urchins and took no time in offering the duo an EP deal. Problems with sample clearance means ‘Me So Horny’ will probably be released as a bootleg and pave the way for two absolutely original bangers to grace the Potty Mouth EP.

The first of these bangers, ‘White Boy Fakin’, was finished up and instantly landed in the CDJ’s of Lincolns biggest nights. Set to be the title track on their first Potty Mouth EP; the track has received big praise from such names as Andy George (who has played the tune to an excitable crowd on a number of occasions), Foamo and bootleg kings Throttle and Vinnie. Foamo enjoyed the tune so much that he agreed to do the official remix for an EP; paving the way for Urchins to begin work on a sick edit of his classic ‘Movin’ It Over Here’. Other support has come flooding in from luminaries such as Edu K, Detboi, A1 Bassline, AC Slater, Scott Cooper, Stereo Heroes, Jaymo blah blah blah - with new remix requests coming in every day; the boys are busier than ever - add to this the Urchins topping off a massive few months by being confirmed as the UK CORRESPONDENT for the might PALMS OUT SOUNDS and you're starting to get the picture.....

With things heating up on all fronts, Urchins are moving both themselves and their studio into the same house – so expect a full frontal attack on the industry in the coming months! With regular gigs in Lincoln, plus scheduled gigs from Southend to Amsterdam – keep both your eyes and your ears peeled!
